How To Be Confident
Do you ever ponder what it is about some individuals that makes them so confident? So totally content in their own skin while transmitting such positive, charming vitality? I used to ponder this as well. I learned confidence is something that can be practiced and taught. I believe anyone can learn to be confident in any endeavor even if they were previously scared before. The question is how do you teach yourself to be more confident?
Allow me to elaborate on a small problem our society has when it comes to teaching confidence. When someone is having an issue attempting a task like getting a date, a job interview, or giving a speech numerous people will tell them to “just be confident”. I was told this phrase all the time when experiencing difficulty performing in front of a group of people. The problem with phrases like “just be confident” or “people like confidence” is it doesn’t fundamentally educate you on anything. You wouldn’t tell someone suffering from a weight problem to “just shed the weight” or just become “thinner”. Can you imagine if a financial adviser told people to “just get rich” or “just get wealthy”. When I comes to confidence I fully believe it needs a few simple steps to master.
Know What You Want
Many individuals live their lives having no idea what they want. They generally take after the American Dream without even batting an eye, simply in light of the fact that that is what’s anticipated from them. You need to know what you want and know specifically what it is. Don’t go around saying I want more money or I want to be famous. Vague statements don’t assist you in making concrete goals and they do help you begin to feel confident. The simple reason is you need a passion or something specific to have a drive for. Do you want to make a million dollars, become a famous actor in comedy, succeed at your job, find your significant other? A concrete and specific set of wants will give you the drive to start being confident.
In the event that you ask me, that is a really lousy approach to carry on with your life. At the danger of sounding crazy, I’d like to call attention to that you have one life; make the most out of it and do things that make you glad. Furthermore you ought to begin at this moment! This is your time to start going after what you want and this is the first step to being confident.
In the event that you don’t recognize what you truly need in life, you’re not the only one. Thousands, if not millions, of individuals meander the earth consistently without a journey. On the off chance that you would prefer not to spend your life meandering erratically, you can utilize the accompanying tips to figure out precisely what you need in life. Let me ask you how can you be confident about something if you have nothing you are pursuing, This may sound simple but it absolutely necessary.
Now you know what you want it may may seem out of reach or improbable. You might set a goal of creating a successful business but you have no experience in start one or you don’t have the capital to get it going. Before you get discouraged try visualizing what you desire. You might ask why would I take time out of my day to just day dream? The truth is you have an awesome power that most of us have never been taught to use effectively.Elite athletes use this. The super rich use this. And peak performers in all fields now use as a practice for new projects. That power is called visualization. The daily practice of visualizing your dreams as already complete can rapidly accelerate your achievement of those dreams, goals and ambitions.Visualization of your goals and desires accomplishes four very important things. It activates your creative subconscious which will start generating creative ideas to achieve your goal.It programs your brain to more readily perceive and recognize the resources you will need to achieve your dreams. It activates your reticular activating system thereby drawing into your life the people, resources, and circumstances you will need to achieve your goals. It builds your internal motivation to take the necessary actions to achieve your dreams. Visualization is really easy and fun. You sit in a comfortable position, close your eyes and imagine in as vivid detail as you can — what you would be looking at if the dream you have were already realized. Imagine being inside of yourself, looking out through your eyes at the ideal result.
Life ins’t easy and neither is building confidence. Once you have a mental picture and you are ready to get start find a force within yourself that will start you up and keep you going no matter what.I’m talking about your Driving Force, and yes, you have one. Maybe more than one. This is what will keep you confidence You Driving Force is what will make your dreams come true. It’s your prime mover. It’s what gets you out of bed in the morning. Your driving force will help you remain confident when the chips or down or it seems the is so no hope. Your Driving Force is often the answer to questions like:Why did you react like that? Why can’t you get that off you mind? Why don’t you just quit? What will keep you going when everything seems to be against you so you don’t make an excuse or quit? From my experience you need to find some source of inspiration that will make your emotional state geared to what you want to accomplish. IF you want to get wealthy using negative language about or having a bad attitude is going to severely hinder you. When was the last millionaire you heard say “money is tight”? IF you can find the right emotional state to you can start to create your driving force and you will see it will not only give you the confidence to get started but the confidence to keep going.
Take Action With Your Insipiration Don’t Wait
It’s not enough to have a dream or vision for your work, creativity or life and just visualize the intended outcome. Part of Confidence is eventually you have to take an action. Once You have to take action; and it’s easier to get started and keep going if you take a series of baby steps. Just one small step toward the life you really want will get you there. Whether you have a creative project in mind or you want to make major changes in your life, break your goals down into small action steps and take one each day. Then with every step congratulate yourself for moving closer toward your dream. If you try to make big leaps toward your goals you usually meet with too much resistance and fear that stops you. Small daily actions allow you to sneak under the radar of your resistance to change and stretch your comfort zone in a manageable way.
The best kind of action is inspired action where you listen to your heart or the still small voice within. You take action not out of the sense that you’ve got to make something happen but out of an inner knowing that this is the right step to take. You may have the intuition to go to a place for coffee that you don’t usually go to but while ordering your latte, you run into someone you haven’t seen in years who has a contact that will help you on your way.
We all want to feel good about ourselves. Failure, criticism and rejection are not pleasant experiences. They lower our self esteem and make us feel bad about ourselves, so we often avoid doing things we think might lead to failure, criticism or rejection. However, if you want to create the life and career success you want and deserve, you have to have the courage to do things that might result in failure, criticism or rejection.Failure, criticism and rejection provide you with the opportunity to grow and develop – to succeed. You can’t take failure, criticism and rejection personally. Failure, criticism and rejection are outcomes. They are a result of things you have done. They are not who you are. We all make mistakes and fail. We all do things that cause others to criticize or reject us. This doesn’t mean that we are failures. It means we have made some poor choices and done some not so smart things.Failure, criticism and rejection provide the opportunity to start over – hopefully a little smarter. Buckminster Fuller once said, “Whatever humans have learned had to be learned as a consequence of trial and error experience. Humans have learned only through mistakes.”That’s why fear is the enemy of self confidence and career success. Take it from a career success coach. If your fear of failure, criticism and rejection paralyzes you to the point where you aren’t willing to take calculated risks, you’ll never learn anything or accomplish any of your goals.
Don’t be too hard on yourself when you fail, or when others criticize of reject you. My best career advice is to put your energy into figuring out why you failed and then do something different. Here are four career success coach questions to ask yourself the next time you fail, or get criticized or rejected. Why did I fail? Why did I get criticized or rejected? What did I do to cause the failure, criticism or rejection? What could I have done to prevent the failure, criticism or rejection? What have I learned from this situation? What will I do differently the next time? If you do this, you’ll be using failure, criticism and rejection to your advantage. In Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill says, “Every adversity, every failure and every heartache carries with it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit.” I know it’s hard to see the benefit or opportunity in failure, criticism and rejection.
